Being a fashion style wedding photographer means that I love to use the skills I’ve learnt from studio and location fashion portraiture to mix things up on your wedding day. The modern bride is exposed to the pages of high end fashion magazines and media coverage of fashion shoots almost every day. Who wouldn’t like to have a chance to create something similar on their wedding day? After all who wouldn’t want something fabulous for the pages of their album or for their walls?
To help keep the creative cogs turning over I like to take advantage of some free time, in the earlier months of the year, to get out and do something a little different. On this occasion I was invited to come along and play with some other North West wedding photographer friends (Lucy and Toni). They had organised some great props, dresses and booked the fabulous international model Raphaela for the afternoon.
Using the dunes and forest of Formby beach as our backdrop we were able to use a mix of both natural light, California Sunbounce reflectors and fashion lighting equipment to create some superb shots. As with all of these multi photographer shoots it’s always lovely to see how we each decide to interpret both the location, the styling, the model, our equipment and our own ideas to create something unique to each of us.
For a bit of a Benny Hill moment the time-lapse below shows a bit of a behind the scenes of how we ran around the beach creating the first part of our shoot.
He photographs in stunning venues and locations in Cheshire, North Wales and around the UK.
